Nestled among central Indiana rural towns, lies Wes-Del High/Middle School in Gaston, Indiana. It was here that Senior Mathematics Education student, Hallie Kaiser, completed her student teaching. She was given the opportunity to teach a variety of classes at a variety of levels: Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, and 6th grade math.
Motivating students and getting them to care about their work can prove to be challenging. Kaiser’s sense of the Lord’s calling and reliance on His all-sufficient strength and grace brought her through the challenges. “My encouragement would be to listen to where God is calling you, even if it is challenging (and it often will be). God is calling me to [teaching], and He will supply the strength to get me through each day.”
Kaiser found joy in developing relationships with her students and placement teacher while sharpening her teaching skills. She also deepened her relationship with the Lord. “The Lord taught me what it looks like to be salt and light to those around me, and I got a good glimpse of what life outside Taylor will look like.”
Let the Taylor University Mathematics Program help you develop the skills for your calling- your opportunity to be salt and light.
