Taylor’s Mathematics Teacher Preparation Nationally Recognized

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) recently recognized Taylor’s mathematics teacher preparation program as meeting the criteria for excellent, research-based techniques. This recognition validates the strong mathematics courses taught and the development of the future teachers through attention to best practices and opportunities to develop those practices in practicum/internship experiences. Future mathematics teachers serve in local schools every year of their undergraduate program at Taylor. They also benefit from the Taylor math departments “Signature Sequence” which emphasizes problem solving, reasoning, research, and faith integration. Taylor’s mathematics teacher education program also provides two benefits to future math teachers typically not found at other schools – a specific course on middle grades math teaching methods and a specific course on the latest technological tools for teaching mathematics.
