Taylor’s Mathematics Department Supports International Efforts for Faith Integration in the Mathematical Sciences

Taylor University’s mathematics department held a significant presence at the Association of Christians in the Mathematical Sciences (ACMS) bi-annual conference at Dordt University, May 28-June 1, 2024.  The TU mathematics department has provided long-standing support for the ACMS.  Our faculty shared the following five presentations:

  • Ethics as Instruction – Dr. Jeremy Case
  • Mathematical Theater and the Human Condition – Dr. Jeremy Case
  • Building Thinking Classrooms – Research Based Instructional Strategies – Dr. Patrick Eggleton with Dr. Richard Dusold (Regents School of Austin)
  • Lessons Learned from Artificial Intelligence Use in the Math Classroom – Drs. Steven Lippold and Amish Mishra
  • Embracing the Mystery: How Mysterious Mathematics Bolsters My Faith – Dr. Mandi Maxwell

In addition to the five presentations, two of our faculty members were selected for prestigious roles:

  • Dr. Mandi Maxwell was elected to serve as a member of the ACMS board for the next few years.
  • Dr. Amish Mishra, Taylor University’s new data science expert, was chosen for inclusion in the next cohort of Project NExT Fellows.  Project NExT (New Experiences in Teaching) is a professional development program for new or recent Ph.D.s in the mathematical sciences organized by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).
